SGOT/AST

This test measures aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels, an enzyme found in the liver and other tissues, used to assess liver function and detect liver damage or disease. Elevated AST levels may indicate liver injury, myocardial infarction, or muscle disorders. Symptoms prompting this test may include jaundice, abdominal pain, and general malaise.
